Vice President, Mergers & Acquisitions

Position Summary & Requirements

The VP for Mergers & Acquisitions will help drive the company’s overall growth agenda by leading strategic partnership activities and developing relationships with business partners or potential clients. The position will work closely with the management and executives to develop a strong pipeline of growth opportunities that align with the organizations vision, mission and core strengths. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of achievement in business development, strategy and/or M&A especially in education industry:

  • Identify, explore, and help drive the execution of strategies that grow revenue through mergers and acquisitions
  • Support engagement with potential M&A targets and partners
  • Collaborate with team members and various functional groups to design, support, and help drive on-going, quality strategy and business plans that result in growth opportunities
  • Lead or assist with the creation of all phases of a business case to support a new initiative
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating investment agreements, shareholder agreements, purchase agreements, and other agreements as required by the deal structure;
  • Develop project plans, budgets and pricing, define roles and responsibilities and the scope of work for each project
  • Collaborate with Operations and Finance to evaluate project performance and to recommend refinements and improvements of all components of proposals
  • Track and report on the status of all new business prospects
  • Establish and maintain broad-based client relationships and industry and professional networks to assist in development initiatives
  • Represent the organization at external meetings and conferences


  • Master’s Degree in business, finance, business administration;
  • With 5 + years of experience in business development and strategy in investment banking;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills;
  • Experience with transactions with an intellectual property focus preferred;
  • Experience with international ventures preferred.
